Week 4

Welcome to Week 4 :-)

Timmy, you can have a rest while BC and I get to work :-)

BC comes up against a reasonable Vanderbilt team, with their only loss so far coming by way of Timmy's  now #17 ranked Northwestern. Oh and don't ask me how, but without playing your rank has improved by 1 spot BC :-)

Auburn is up for me. A tough ask if I'm honest. Still not firing on all cylinders, with a very fortunate win over ND last week.

Anyway, we shall see, and perhaps I can join this exclusive top 25 club LOL, not likely.

As always, post thoughts and reviews below.

Best of luck,
WolfMan

If we can get through week 4 this weekend, we should be able to have our week 5 matchup played on Monday as I am free.

  3. Week 4 report v Auburn

The first quarter remained scoreless as both teams traded Punts after strong defensive efforts.

Deadlock was finally broken just a few plays into the 2nd qtr. with a 25 yard FG by the Spartans.

The Tigers replied in kind on their next possession, but from a much more impressive length of 49 yards.

Both offenses just weren't clicking, with another FG the only reward from a Spartan 44 yard drive (which included a 14 yard Roughing the Passer penalty).

The sides were separated by 3 at the break, with Auburn hitting the post on 36 yard FG attempt.

    HT: Auburn - 3
    Spartans - 6

The Spartan offense finally started to look the part in the second half, marching the ball downfield 71 yards for the first TD of the match.

Auburn failed to trouble the scorers for the rest of the match, with the only other action coming via a perfectly executed and setup play to Junior WR Fred Smith (Set 'em up, Knock 'em down trophy awarded).

    Final: Auburn - 3
    Spartans - 20

    Players of the match as awarded by the commentators were Spartans QB Kirk Cousins, who went 18 for 30, for 315 yards, 2 TD's;
and Tigers WR Tim Hawthorne who made 4 catches for 81 yards (54 after the catch).
